The Panthers will host the Louisville University Cardinals this weekend at EIU’s home barn in Danville, IL. This will mark the first home game series for Eastern since the first weekend of the season, when they swept Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Eastern comes into the weekend with a record of (7-4-3) while Louisville has a (7-13) record through the first 20 games. Eastern plans on staying on the winning track, over the last 6 games the Panthers are (4-0-2). Continuing on this pattern, means ending the game in regulation, ” Steering clear of Overtime is important for our team, so far this season we have not had much luck in extra minutes. We need to work on finishing the game within the 60 minutes of play, and not put the pressure of sudden death on ourselves.” Capitan Mike Sorrentio said.
Along with finishing the game in regulation, focusing on the task at hand is also important. The Panthers had last weekend off for the Thanksgiving holidays, but the weekend off is nothing to worry about stressed Goalie Andrew Teske, ” Having the weekend off won’t be a problem at all, all of the boys found time to get on the ice over the break, and we had a very strong week of practice this week, it was like we picked up right where we left off”.
Although Louisville’s record is nothing to write home about, the Cardinals are a better team than most people might think. They have played strong compition all season, which no matter the result, it has made them a stronger team. Steve Kriegshauser spoke about a couple of the Cardinal players, ” I played highschool hockey with a couple of the players on the Cardinals, and they are strong skaters, and good overall players, this is definitely a weekend that we will have to give 100% in order to get a couple of wins”.
Fridays puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 pm & 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, at the David S Palmer Arena in Danville, IL.
Come on out for a free, fun-filled day of Hockey!
